    PEITAHO, CHINA

In China, I remember hearing small talk at night, as the train was passing the Yellow Sea. We were traveling to Peitaho where I got my first glimpse of the Bohai Sea and the white crest of the waves going into the distance. Our bungalow had sweet corn known as growing and cosmos flowering in the garden. We would play with miniature steamboats in mud pools by the beach, or go and collect shells. We soon learnt to swim. Painted in 1983.
